Ends 12/24/08	Portland Saturday Market - Portland Saturday Market Portland Saturday Market is the largest arts and crafts market in continuous operation in the United States. It is held every Saturday and Sunday from March through Christmas Eve at SW Ankeny + Naito Parkway. The Market has over 350 vendors. All items sold at the Saturday Market are required to be handmade by the person selling it, and a product review committee of members juries each new item against a high standard of quality.
9/28/08-1/04/09	Wolf to Woof: The Story of Dogs - World Forestry Center Discovery Museum Never before shown in the Pacific Northwest, the exhibit sniffs out the facts on dogs and explores what makes their relationship with humans so unique. The hands-on, interactive components use our familiarity and love of our four-legged friends to explore science and biological concepts. Visitors can enter a “howling” area, guess what other dogs are saying, test their human noses against an extraordinary sense of smell of a dog’s nose, and climb into an avalanche scene to see what it’s like to be saved by a search and rescue dog. Visitors will leave with a better understanding of the evolution of dogs, their cultural and historical importance, as well as what they can do to promote a better understanding and better life for wild and domestic dogs.

Collectively, these bustling outdoor venues serve approximately 20,000 shoppers weekly, and feature more than 200 vendors from Oregon and Washington – including farmers, bakeries, nurseries, meat and seafood providers, cheese makers and specialty food producers.
07/12/08 - 10/31/08	Western Solitude, the paintings of William Samuel Parrott - Pittock Mansion The works of early Oregon artist, William Samuel Parrott will be featured through the summer at Portland’s historic Pittock Mansion. Popular among collectors who love Western landscapes, William Parrott is internationally considered a notable painter.
08/30/08 - 10/31/08	Portland Corn MAiZE - The Corn MAiZE The MAiZE "Twists and Turns" into Ten Years in Bridgetown. What began back in 1999 as a great and "weird" Portland idea has grown into a Portland tradition. The MAiZE, a giant puzzle carved into a towering cornfield, has become a classic fall event for tens of thousands of visitors craving adventure and laughter and to connect with life on a family farm. Portlander Craig Easterly, creator of the annual giant-sized maze at The Pumpkin Patch, created a design this year that celebrates Portland and its beautiful cityscape and surroundings. The "Bridgetown MAiZE" at The Pumpkin Patch features the city's bridges, rivers, mountains and outdoor spirit. Easterly promises that crossing the newly built Sauvie Island Bridge, and finding The Pumpkin Patch, is the easy part. Finding your way out of the 5-acre labyrinth will be both a physical and mental challenge for kids of all ages to enjoy.
11/1/08	New Historic Districts – A Workshop for Portland Neighborhoods - Architectural Heritage Center Development pressures are endangering a number of historic Portland districts, leaving neighborhoods scrambling to protect their special sense of place. One method of addressing the teardown-and-replace impact of modern development may be to nominate your neighborhood to the National Register of Historic Places. The Architectural Heritage Center and representatives from the State Historic Preservation Office will present a special program aimed at Portlanders who are interested in pursuing National Register Historic District nominations. Learn the basics of how to research and identify historic properties, how to organize local support for a historic district, when to involve historic preservation professionals in your project, and what successful strategies have been used by other organizations.
09/20/08 - 12/28/08	The Oregon Zoo Presents; Frogs - Oregon Zoo FROGS!, an exciting traveling exhibition, is the zoo's latest seasonal attraction. The exhibit features several frog species, including the White's tree frog, Vietnamese mossy frog, fire belly toad and poison dart frog among others. Tadpole Tales Story Time, fun-filled educational activities and a kiosk that emits frog sounds are just a few of the exhibit's many highlights.

Your recent donation of a moving truck for 5 days allowed us to give more than 1,000 children a holiday they wouldn't otherwise have had. Our greatest pleasure is having the ability to see the look of relief on a young mother's face as we tell her that her children will wake up to gifts Christmas morning, I assure you it is one the greatest feelings in the world. And it is all because of the generosity of people like you.

Thank you for supporting The Wetlands Conservancy. We truly appreciate the donation of the Reger moving truck. 

The moving truck came in very handy last Tuesday. I completed tasks that had been put on hold because I have not had access to a truck. I was able to recycle 200+ pounds of scrap metal and (4) 55-gallon plastic drums that were not of use to us anymore. I was also able to move various materials, used for resetoration activities, from our wetland preserves back to our Tualatin office. 

The Wetlands Conservancy is a nonprofit Land Trust dedicated to conserving wetlands throughout Oregon.
